Walnut and Corian Kitchen, Armley

After much deliberation this client finally decided to give the green light to a project that had been on the backburner for some time. They had inherited a very old kitchen when they bought the property and had numerous problems with it which would need to be addressed when the kitchen was rebuilt.

The main issues that he to be dealt with were

The room was extremely draughty and cold in the winter months

The old sash windows were installed to level below modern worktop heights.

The original room that spanned this property and the next door neighbours was poorly built and over the last 100 years had been gradually pushing the side wall out of line.

The client did not want any kitchen units on the walls.

We stripped the whole room back to floor joists, brick walls and roof purlins. Then jacked the old roof off to relieve the pressure in the side wall while a piece of steel was installed to give more support. A roof support was then constructed so that the weight bore on the party wall instead. The whole room was then wrapped in Xfoil to insulate it before being plasterboarded to take the new kitchen.
